Have you found yourself
overwhelmed caring for a loved one? Do you need a helping hand but don't know who to turn to? You're not alone.
Statistics state that over 50 million people are providing care to a chronically ill, disabled or elderly family member or friend. (Source: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Informal Caregiving: Compassion in Action. Washington, DC: 1998, and National Family Caregivers Association, Random Sample Survey of Family Caregivers, Summer 2000, Unpublished) These selfless individuals have been dubbed the name "caregivers".
Fortunately, people are finally starting to realize that our "Caregivers" could use (and certainly deserve) a little help, emotional support, and maybe just a place to vent or share stories. We, at Calvin Johnson Care Center, understand this. That's why we've compiled a number of
resources and a
message board to talk with staff and other families in similar situations. We do this to help you, the "caregiver".
Additionally, you can call our Social Service team from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with any questions you have. The team includes Director Sherry Bennett, as well as Ryan Ford and Chris Garner. They are very active in the community and are more than willing to help those without a loved one in Calvin Johnson Care Center. We can provide emotional support, placement advice, and other information you may need. We do this for free knowing we can win you over with superior service and friendly staff, rather than marketing tactics. If the time comes that a nursing home is appropriate for yourself, a family member or friend, the skilled care we provide speaks for itself.
