Calvin Johnson Care Center is locally owned and operated and has been providing skilled nursing for more than 35 years. Care is given by qualified and caring staff in a professional, home-like, clean setting. We are a skilled nursing facility and offer a range of services from geriatric, physical rehabilitation, ventilator management and respiratory therapy, respite care, mental health programming and much more, as found in the Services section of our site.

Calvin Johnson Care Center is a certified 180 bed Medicare and Medicaid nursing home. Many other payment options are welcome, including but not limited to private pay, veteran benefits, GHP and private insurance. The nursing home is evaluated by both the Illinois Department of Public Health and Department of Veteran's Affairs annually, to ensure your loved ones are getting the best care possible.

Calvin Johnson Care Center is located in Belleville, IL. This is just 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis, MO. While residing between the ever growing St. Louis, just across the Mississippi River, and small farming communities in Illinois, Belleville seems to have a life of its own and a unique history that provides a wonderful community for the nursing home and the diverse population that resides here.

We are long-time participants in the culture change movement and have been practicing person centered care since our beginning. Person centered care is a long overdue attitude toward giving care. Representatives of our home meet regularly with a growing collaborative of other homes and care providers in Southern Illinois to discuss and work together toward improving quality of life and making long term care settings as much like home as possible. Our staff is told to remember: "The residents don't live in our facility... we work in their home."
