At Calvin Johnson Care Center, we offer a wide variety of services. Below you will find a brief overview of some of the services you can expect while staying at our home. We understand that as our loved ones advance in age or due to changing medical conditions, their hearing may decline. At Calvin Johnson Care Center, we believe your loved ones have the right to function at their highest potential. To ensure this, we regularly schedule an Audiologist to help assess our residents' needs. Residents or family members interested in this service, can contact our social service department to arrange an audiology screening.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we offer both in house beautician and barber services.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we offer numerous behavioral management programs and services including group therapy, 24 hour behavior tracking, 1:1 intervention, community integration and much more.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we know religion plays an important role in many of our residents' lives. Our activities department has made arrangements for church groups from various faiths to provide weekly services. We also understand that many of our residents have a preference of a particular church. At your request, the social service department can help arrange transportation for your loved one to attend their own church.

Routine oral examinations are an important part of maintaining our dental health. At Calvin Johnson Care Center, we offer in-house dental services from a licenced dentist. If a resident feels they need dental care or maybe they're just do for a check up, our social service department can arrange this service.

Our loved ones' transition to the end stages of life can be difficult. We understand this and work closely with our local hospice organizations. Anyone requiring hospice services, or looking for more information about the service, should contact Mary Scharlemann, Sherry Bennett or Ryan Ford with our Social Service department.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we offer the convenience of in-house x-ray services. By coordinating efforts with a local radiology provider we can often provide for residents without the disruption and expense of emergency or out-patient transfers.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we have access to in-house laboratory service. Residents needing routine blood work done can conveniently do so without leaving the building.

We provide laundry services with laundry personel staffed 24 hours each day to ensure clean clothes are available. Residents may also choose to have family/ friends take clothes to be washed.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we encourage capable residents be as independent with their activities of daily living as they can. For those less capable, a doctor may feel occupational therapy would be beneficial. We work with local providers to train those in need with exercises developed to increase fine motor skills and strength training needed to complete daily tasks such as dressing, buttoning clothes, brushing hair/ teeth, using the bathroom, etc.

We work closely with a pharmacy that delivers medicine to our building daily. The pharmacy will also make emergency deliveries if needed. Additionally, we have a consultant pharmacist working as part of our care team.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we believe Physical Therapy is an important component in preventing and rehabilitating after illness or injury. For this reason, we coordinate with local physical therapy providers. If a doctor feels this service would be beneficial, a physical therapist will evaluate a resident and implement an individualized program developed to achieve or maintain his or her highest possible level of mobility. If a resident does not qualify for skilled physical therapy, they can still receive services through rehab therapy or restorative programming.

We work closely with a family practice residency program to provide physician consultation on a daily basis. Physicians are available for contact 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A resident may also chose to use his or her own doctor. If in-house service is not provided by the doctor, the Social Service department can coordinate transportation to have a resident seen at their doctor's office.

General nail care is provided on a regular basis by our staff. However, in some circumstances, a professional's service may be required. Our home is visited monthly by a podiatrist to assess and care for our residents. If a resident is interested in professional footcare, they can contact the social service department to arrange seeing the podiatrist.

Emotional and mental health can effect all aspects of a person's life. We understand this, and have a number of experienced psychiatrists that visit Calvin Johnson Care Center regularly. If a resident already has a psychiatrist that is familiar with their needs but doesn't visit our home, the Social Service department may be able to arrange transportation to visit their preferred doctor.

Sometimes simply having a caring person listen to our problems can lift a large emotional burden from our shoulders. While our social service department is available for this, we also have a psychologist that visits weekly. If you believe this may benefit your family member, please contact our Social Service department.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we understand that caring for a loved one on a 24 hour basis is difficult. It's important that you make time to do things for yourself, your work or your family at times without the worry of your loved one's safety. Calvin Johnson Care Center can accommodate temporary or Respite stays, as well as long term placement.

As part of the interdisciplinary team, Calvin Johnson Care Center offers Social Services to all residents and their families. Upon admission, Social Service provides a comprehensive assessment with the resident, to identify their individual psychosocial needs, and the interdisciplinary team develops an individualized treatment plan. Additionally, the Social Service Department provides individual and group support to address mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues. The department also remains connected to the community to provide linkage and referral services. Social Services will further insure protection of each person's rights and preserve their dignity. The department has an open door policy to meet with families and residents to confidentially address individual concerns.

At Calvin Johnson Care Center we understand that standard equipment doesn't work for all of our residents. If a situation requires special equipment we arrange for special equipment as needed on an individual basis. For example, one of our ventilator patients wanted to attend a social gathering with family. We arranged the availability of a portable ventilator, to make this possible.

We strive to provide oppourtunities for residents to enjoy the conveniences they had at home. Telephones can be installed in a resident's room to help achieve this. You can contact our social service department for more information. Bills can be sent to the to the facility or another address as arranged. Payments can be withdrawn from the resident's account. Residents, that do not install phone services, are welcome to use our portable phones located at the nurses stations.

We at Calvin Johnson Care Center understand the need for reliable transportation for our residents. This is why we work closely with our local transportation companies to provide transport for all of our residents, even those that require special accommodations. Transportation can be set up by contacting our Social Service department. We encourage family members to participate and stay informed about medical concerns by accompanying their loved ones to physicial or out-patient visits.

Staying busy can play an important role in our lives. At your request, our care plan team can work to allow your loved ones to help out around the facility.
